Speech and Language Services

Speech therapy helps people who have trouble talking to other people. The services we provide include evaluation and treatment of speech, language, and hearing problems in children and adults. Our department works in conjunction with the laryngologists and audiologists to improve communication abilities of our patients Speech therapy may be the only treatment needed for some voice disorders, and also is used to aid in recovery after surgery of the larynx.

Sally McKee M.A. CCC has twenty-four years of clinical experience as an ASHA Certified Speech-Language Pathologist, having served twenty-two of those years as owner and Director of Speech Pathology Services in Houston.

Computerized Voice Analysis

The Texas Voice Center utilizes the latest in computer voice analysis to pinpoint flaws in the singing and speaking voice. These tools aid the staff in diagnosing all types of voice disorders

CSLTM Computerized Speech Lab breaks down the sound of the voice into many different components. Progress in therapy can be monitored easily and subtle problems can be diagnosed using this sensitive tool.

Stuttering Therapy

In recent years, speech scientists have discovered that the cause of stuttering is more neurological than psychological--and that's good news! With specific therapy, adults and children who stutter learn to speak more fluently by coordinating their breath, voice, and speech. The Texas Voice Center with Baylor College of Medicine offers a two week intensive fluency program for treatment of stuttering. For more information of this program, visit the Stuttering Center website.

Voice Intervention

It has been said, "The voice is the barometer of the soul." Unhealthy vocal folds can play tricks on our listeners. Unhealthy voices can cause us to sound old when we are actually young, tired when we are rested, and ill when we are healthy. The voice can be overused, misused, and abused with predictable consequences. We can help you to learn to prevent, reduce, and often eliminate voice problems through simple intervention techniques.
